When the Cambridge Health Alliance proposed closing its Somerville detox facility, I worked to ensure a community voice in the process, by pushing the DPH to hold a public hearing. Although we weren’t able to prevent this closure, I’ve twice intervened successfully to prevent disastrous funding cuts to the Somerville Mental Health Association, saving it from closing, and allowing it to continue providing needed services.
